Default WANTED: Crossfire Roadster SIDE FLAP CABLE

I've just bought a Crossfire Roadster and I'm (mostly) happy with it - however - as the title of the thread suggests, I have an issue with the roof - The Side Flap cable is frayed inside the sleeve, so the spring doesn't have enough 'power' to pull the flap back when the roof is being lowered - so I need a replacement.

I've tried 5 different Chrysler dealers (including any mentioned on the forum)
I've tried to order from the US only to have my money returned as the part was unavailable

The part Number (and official name ) is: Side flap Tonneau cable PART NO 05140962AA

Every dealer reports it's available as a "back order", but can't quote an ETA. Should I order this part ? Has anyone any experience of 'back-ordering' ?

Can anyone help or suggest anything - or know of anywhere that I can get one made ?

Many thanks in advance.....

I just hope it's easier to get other parts as and when needed (!)

In the past, people have had luck with getting the cable replaced at a bicycle shop, motorcycle shop or marine shop.

Where are you located ?

I've had some experience with "back order" Crossfire parts. The part you seek is on "national back order" which means that the part is unavailable anywhere and there are no immediate plans to produce any additional parts. As ALA_XFIRE suggested, remove your damaged cable and take it to an appropriate shop to have a duplicate made.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm in the UK by the way.

I've found a supplier, though they haven't confirmed stock yet, but my order (and money via PayPal) have been accepted. Hoping it will be confirmed soon or I'll have to go the route of getting one made...

Thanks again.

Long story short, I ended up having to buy a complete convertible top with all its framework from a salvage yard. This because I needed a new "bow molding" (the rubber molding that goes around the back "bow" of the convertible top) and that part is no longer available from Chrysler. So I ended up with lots of top parts available . . . hydraulic cylinders, cables latch parts etc and TWO of the OEM tonneau cover flap cables. ONE complete cable with fittings is $50.00 delivered to your door. Contact me directly at RedDogNumber1@aol.com if you need one. I only have two . . . THANKS, Bob Davis
