Often the cause of a stuck up spoiler is a weak battery, if it’s the original you should get a new one as weak batteries cause more triouble than they are worth
Re: Chrysler crossfire

Before you start trusting in everything a garage mechanic tells you, click this link for repairs you can do yourself or for referance for your mechanic. Unless he is familiar with the Crossfire or at lease Mercedese he is grabbing at straws and it may cost you a fortune.

Re: Chrysler crossfire
Welcome! There are a couple of good UK groups on Facebook, more active than here (which to be fair is more US based). The Mercedes 320 engine is strong and not known for gasket failures. I’d get an independent Mercedes specialist to look first. Yes on the battery, get a new one, so many unreleased gremlins stem from it. Car looks tidy, and yellow is quite a rare colour. Have fun on the recommission, and enjoy the drive.

with the roof I would double check that the boot partition is clipped properly into place as this switches the power on and off to the roof, can you tell us if the car makes any attempt to open the roof? or does it make a bleeping noise when you try to open it?
it sounds like the car has been a garage queen, which can lead to electrical problems on any make, including a dying battery.
the wheel arch corrosion is fairly common amd easily sorted by a good paint shop, it happens because mus builds up in the badly designed inner lip of the wheel arch.
