Any interest in Meguiar's Detailing Clinic in SoCal?

I posted this in the Detailing section but thought I'd post here too as it SoCal specific.

I'm sort of a nut job when it comes to detailing my cars and am a regular at Meguiar's Thursday Night Open Garage sessions, but Meguiar's also offers Saturday clinics to car clubs. Yeah, you sit through a Powerpoint presentation first, but they supply the coffee & donuts in the morning, pizza at lunch time, and they show you how to properly detail a vehicle either by hand or by machine. There is no cost to attend and you do walk out with a far better understanding of what it takes to properly maintain your cars finish, along with a goody bag of full sized products (not little tiny samples).

I know these guys pretty well and can set up a session for us, but I'm curious if there would be enough interest from the SoCal group (or anyone else wishing to drive to SoCal for the session!). So, anyone interested?

It looks as though we may be able to get Saturday, December 8th set for us. We'd most likely have to share with another group since we'd be a smallish class, but I don't think that's a problem. Except for the other group, of course, since they'd all be jealous of our Crossfires. But that's their problem, isn't it?;)

I'll keep you posted.

Is free pizza still in the offering? The 8th is a good date for me also.

OK, sorry for the waffling back and forth here, but I spoke with my contact at Meguiar's and he's suggesting (and I'm inclined to agree with him) that we hold off until after the first of the year. Reason being Meguiar's has some new products coming out that were introduced at SEMA and he says we can get these in our goody bags, but only if we wait until after the first of the year. I'd prefer doing it this way even though it does mean waiting a bit longer.

Again, I'll keep you posted on the earliest date I can lock down for us.

Sorry for the late reply as I have been having problems getting into the site from my new computer so I fired up the old one.

1st of the year sounds good to me as well. Can't remember where we where going to do this though???

This will eventually be at Meguiar's HQ in Irvine, just across the 405 from John Wayne Airport.

Perfect, I work in Irvine (Corner of Alton & Ada) but normally don't bring the CF down from Ventura County but will for the event.

UPDATE:

Meguiar's has Saturday, January 12, 2008 reserved for a local Honda S2000 club, but signups for this have been very light. The last time an S2000 group signed up they had something like a 90% no-show. The "rules" state that if a club does not fill up a given class by the Monday preceding the class, then said class is open to any forum members who wish to attend.

I spoke to Mike Phillips at Meguiar's today about this, and he said he'd love to have a bunch of Crossfire guys show up. So, here's the deal:

If on Monday, January 7, 2008 the class is not full, I will post a link here to the Meguiar's forum. You MUST BE A REGISTERED MEMBER OF MEGUIARSONLINE.COM to attend the class. You do NOT need to have posted previously, you just need to be a member. Of course membership to the forum is free, and once you sign up all you need to do is respond to the signup thread for the class. I'll link to that as well.

At this time I'd just like to see how many people we might be able to get for Saturday, 1.12.08. Can I see a show of hands?

Mike-in-Orange: I'm thinking that some of those who've responded before don't realize that we're (hopefully after your confirmation) on because this isn't a new thread. Not a problem for me as I've already affirmed, but some probably just don't know. Maybe a new thread would be in order if there's room for more. I only mention it because I think I've seen many more responses in the past.

Sounds reasonable to me but you may have already done that since I have just started by looking at my links and haven't hit the forums yet.
