So Cal drives

I notice the So Cal folks don't get out much. Here's some good runs between Santa Barbara and San Diego

Glendora Ridge - 40 miles

Mount Wilson - 55 miles

Malibu - 57 miles

Santiago Canyon, Ortega, Elsinor, Pala, Mt Palomar, Aguanga, Temecula - 161 miles

Ojai - 167 miles

Sunrise Hwy, Escondedo - 70 miles

There's so many more in So Cal... I've got to admit, Glendora Ridge is my favorite...

You are brought back some good memories...:) I grew up and used to live at the base of Glendora Mountain road. My first car was a Triumph TR6 and I used to drive up that road at least once a week for years.

To let you know, Glendora Mountain road opened this fall from Glendora to the ridge. It's been closed for over ten years due to cave-in's.

I drive Santiago all the time but it's not really very tight and twisty. You'd have to be moving at hyper-legal speeds for it to really be fun but there are so many fatal accidents on that road that I'm not willing to push it there. Other drivers just wouldn't expect it and there's too damn many cops.

I drove this shortly after getting my Crossfire back in July. Back in my bike racing days I lived in Glendora and trained on this road at least once a week. HWY 39 was open all the way to Crystal Lake back then so we'd ride up to the lake then back down to East Fork, up GMR then take the Ridge to Mount Baldy Village and up to the ski resort, then back down through the tunnels and back home. It's a hell of a lot easier in a car!!! I was actually hoping to get back up there tomorrow with my new Motorsports Hero video camera to shoot some test footage but now it looks like I won't be able to make it.

I really want to try the roads around Palomar soon too. As a bonus I'd get to take Ortega HWY to Lake Elsinore and on the 15 FWY since I live very close to Ortega - actually at Oso Pkwy and the 241 Toll Road.
