Factory Tire Life

I'm interested in hearing how much wear your factory rear tires have and the corresponding mileage.

I purchased my '05 Crossfire used and I think the previous owner may have been a tad aggressive.
If he was it had no ill effect on the mechanics as everything tested fine. :cool:

Replacement tire size option for rear = 285/30 R19
Factory size is 255 35 R19

My rear tires are worn at 16K and I am looking to replace soon. Any suggestions?

I got over 30,000 on my Conti's, and the fronts probably could have gone longer, but I wanted a complete set. I bought the Yokahama Advan S4s, but they are not a good all season tire. They kick @$$ Summer Spring and Fall, but they are not even close to a winter tire. For that I just bought 4 Priellis.

I don't know how old the tires were on my car when I purchased it, but I replaced the rear tires with Contis I think, and I got about 11K out of them - I don't consider myself as a very agressive driver - I play every now and again, but who doesn't. When they needed replacing again, I went to a larger aspect ratio tire (kept the width the same), hoping that a taller sidewall would allow the tire to flex more and not spin. I chose a tad harder compound - but they don't translate exactly from one manufacturer to another.

Believe it or not...I just returned my Cdn. '04 from lease with 54,000 kms. on original factory tires!
My USA '06 has 6300 miles on it so I have lots of tread again.

Almost 24000 miles and mine are still in great shape.

20K and my factory Conti's were pretty much slicks in the back. Now have almost 30K on my exclaim UHP's and I figure I will get another 10 to 20 out of them. Fronts still look great.

About 24k on the conti's before replacement. Probably could have gone another 1-2k but not worth the risk with no spare. :rolleyes:

Have only 13,500 on my Contis and they still look like new but when I was looking at Xfires there was one with the Michelins and that car had less than 10,000 miles on it and the tires were just about gone. Plus they were dry rotted and the car was an '06. Didn't look like they could make it another 2,000 miles.

Got, no lie, about 45K out of my Michelin PS2's. They were pretty worn, but could have lasted a bit longer. I gladly paid to get the same tires put on again.

27000 on my Michelin PS2's.
Fronts have 9/32 tread and rears have 5/32 tread.
Still got a fair amount of miles to go.

The life span of tires on the back of a crossfire can be determined by the following equation:

TcBp + Rff / N = Tl

Where:

TcBp = Traction Control Button Push
Rff = Right Foot Force
N = Nerve
Tl = Tire Life

Coincidentally......this same formula is used to determine endorphin release in the human brain!

Re: Factory Tire Life

I picked up my 05 roadster in July - car had 28,000 miles with org. conti tires,
Tread on fronts seemed ok, rear tire worn, real problem was that both rear
tires had HUGE sidewall cracks - about 1 1/2" - made me way too nervous to drive on them - replaced all 4 with Goodyear F1 D3's.

Tire were incredible all summer and early fall - never lost traction, held the road like glue, quiet and ride improved somewhat over the conti's.

This is the 1st time I have used summer performance tires - wow once the temp drops below 40 - ride is harder; traction lite comes on - alot and just don't feel as confident that the tires will hold like they did in warm/hot weather.

So far have added about 8,000 mile to the car and the tread seem to be holding - but have no high mileage expectations for these - maybe another 12,000 miles and WOW - I get to do it again!

You might want to try the Goodyear F1 AllSeason tires MAKIII. I've been more than happy with mine so far!
