SLK320 Suspension Compatibility

Accoriding to Tire Rack part numbers, the Eilbach Springs from an '03 SLK320 are identical to those from an '04 Crossfire. The H&R springs however have two seperate part numbers. I assume that the fittment is the same and perhaps they are just different spring rates. My real question is how does the suspension layout of the SLK compare to the Crossfire. I've been told that the H&R sway bay kit from the SLK woulf fit the Crossfire as well. Does this mean that the SLK H&R Touring Cup Kit fits the Crossfire too? Any well informed input would be greatly appreciated.

the SLK is a little better suspension, I haven't seen it with my own eyes but I've read the a-arm, trailing links and mounts are all alluminum vs. the crossfires all steel suspenion,

as for springs just cut the stock coil, at about 1/2 to 3/4 off. this will save you about $300 on new springs

Front swaybars are definitely interchangeable between the cars.

Re: SLK320 Suspension Compatibility

How about the rear swaybar compatibility? I know H&R makes a 20mm rear bar for the SLK vs. our stock 16mm. I assume it would fit but I hear it is a pain in the a$$ to swap out. If anyone has made the swap, please let me know what it all entales.

I would cut the springs too but I want to have the option to return it to stock if I sell it or decide it's too low. I'm going to opt for the Koni's though. They seem to be the all around favorite of everyone on here.

Not on the R170.

R170 is steel all the way.

really? what are your sources? do you own a r170?

If this is true then I will have to stop listening to Mercedes owners.

Sources? I looked under an '00 R170 SLK. They even look identical.

there are many different versions of the r170, and the ultra base 230 is most likely the same suspension as the crossfire.

230 slk, 230 kompressor, 230 sport, 320 sport, 32 slk, and if you venture over to the german r170 forum there where a couple specialty models listed there.

I would like to research it a little more before stating any facts.

What is your reasoning?

I saw the suspension of a "top of the line" 230 Kompressor. Steel. Sorry, mate.

I want to be clear that I mean that the suspension components were made of steel.

I was not saying that they are identical! I have no idea if they are identical pieces.
