Rim won't come off!!!
Rim won't come off!!!
Ok I was going to check my brake pads before I go to the track this weekend but my rim seems to have seized to the hub. I've pulled, kicked, and beat on the damn thing but no luck. Anyone know any tricks to get the damn thing off. Oh and the sencor in the brake pad, is that thing going to tell me if the pads need replaced?

Yeah, I was going to suggest the sledge hammer too, but you may just want to put a 4"X4" piece of wood in front of the rim (on the back side) as a buffer zone before you hit it. Also, put a big piece of cardboard down on the ground so when the wheel falls off and tips over, you won't scratch the lip of the rim when it hits the ground.
I have to do this all the time with my 1 ton Chevy Van even though I smear "Never Seize" on it everytime I take the wheel off.

Re: Rim won't come off!!!
This is very common here in Michigan
The easiest way to get the wheel off is in fact very simple:
Loosen the lugnuts but don't remove them completely
Put it in drive and go a few feet and hit the brakes
For good measure, do the same thing in reverse.
Don't forget the antiseize around the center hole of the wheel when you put it back together. This is where it corrodes to the hub.
