Allright...winter wheels/tires...
Allright...winter wheels/tires...
I know I'm going to get a whole bunch of flak for driving my SRT-6 all through winter, but unless it drops 4" of snow here (which it probably will) I'm driving the car in the snow.
Anybody had any experience in smaller steel wheels that fit our cars? Coming from an SRT-4...simply putting snow tires on the car, made it a beast in the snow. I know the RWD will be more difficult, but I think in light conditions some nice snow tires and cheap wheels will work.
16" - 17" - 18" ?
Anybody have a good snow tire/wheel package they know of?

I also drive my SRT-6 all winter. I have a set of regular XFire wheels with blizzak's on them that I use for the winter. They are the same size as the summer tires and it handles pretty good in the snow for the type of car it is.

Re: Allright...winter wheels/tires...
I don't have an SRT6 but I'm driving mine in winter as well.
I just ordered (from Tire Rack) a set of four 18" wheels and then a set of Bridgestone Blizzak tires to go with.
The sales rep I talked to on the phone said that once you put your vehicle info in, all the wheels displayed in the results are compatible with the car. So if you order from there, I wouldn't worry about any issues with the wheels.
The only puzzling part I came across was the tire sizes to choose. The manual recommends 225/40-18 on all four for the winter. However, using this would make the rear of the car 1" lower than it would normally sit with standard equipment wheels/tires (non SRT6 equipment in my case). So, the rep suggested that I use 225/45-18 size tires in the rear so that the car would still sit 1" higher in the rear as it normally would with the 19" wheels/tires.
Has anyone used the same tire sizes all around on a set of 18" or even 17" wheels without any problems? (i.e. speedometer off, etc.)
By the way.. My tire/wheel package came to $1,500 with shipping, just to give you an idea of possible prices you may be looking at. They didn't have any of those black steel wheels to choose from so I chose a cheaper set of wheels that went for $134/wheel.
