Crack in the wheel
I have a crack on my passenger rear wheel....it is small but looking for advice....can it be welded? Should I just replace it?

Re: Crack in the wheel
The crack can be repaired but for piece of mind I would suggest a new one or at least a good used one.

Re: Crack in the wheel
I had the passenger rear wheel crack. The crack was thru the lip, and about an inch into the wheel. I think the material of the wheel isn't suitable for welded for long term strength, so I replaced it with a used wheel.

Down shifting v using the brake
Have gotten pro and con answers to that question but wanted to see what all the pro's have to say about it.....I know brakes are cheaper than a transmission but if they put that option on my automative roadster, would it really hurt the transmission?

Re: Crack in the wheel
most small cracks can be fixed, we have sent out many wheels to be welded and have all held without leaking. most wheel repair people should charge between 65-85 to repair a small crack.

Re: Crack in the wheel
Ended up buying a wheel for $185 and brought my old one home.....it has two small cracks that can be repaired for $85....so should I try to sell it as is, for how much, repair it and sell it, for how much, or repair it and hang on to it?
Didn't repair the old one because it would take two days and I could not get home. |
