TPMS Rebuild Kit ?? anyone know about this

I recently purchased new tires and the shop said they will call in a couple of days when they get them in.
They discussed with me at the time of purchase the need to install a TPMS Rebuild kit in each wheel when replacing the old tires with the new ones.
It is only a cost of $8 per wheel but I had never heard of this and didn't come across it doing a search here.
They are not replacing theTPMS, just doing a rebuild of some sort.

Anyone familiar with this ??

Yes, I had them 'rebuilt' when I reshoed the car - $8 too.
It's standard practice.
I think it's just a couple of rubber washer/grommets and hopefully they clean them a bit.
It's been mentioned in some thread somewhere on here as I have suggested to someone that they have it done.

OK Thanks for the feedback.
Just wanted to hear it from another member to assure me it's standard practice

I'm not sure this is right at all, but I figured I might as well post - it may have some value to someone sometime in the future :D

I recently had to buy a new rear tire. When I brought it home to clean it, I noticed there was a new almost.. metal strip, a series of 10 or so metal squares all next to each other. It looked like the other one had be pulled or fell off, there was some adhesive foam stuff still leftover.

Is this the TPMS? Or something else?

those are stick on weights for balancing. The TPMS is inside the rim attached to the valve stem. The rebuild replaces the gaskets it's screwed on with to the rim.

$8 is a good price. We stock them and our cost is 11.50 (stem, seal, and nut).
