Exclamation H&R Spacer info

I found this little blurb on the H&R Mercedes fitment guidelines.

Safety guidelines
    e) Please ensure that the wheel bolts do not damage any part of the brake system (ABS sensors, etc.). Turn the wheel by hand and check clearance on the inside of the hub. The wheel should rotate freely. (Maximum tolerance for some vehicles is only 2mm (i.e. Rear Axle Mercedes)).

I thought it might be good for those that are thinking of adding spacers to see this.

This is great info Max. On the bright side, these are proven spacers with some of the members.

    FP and all others,

I seem to see more and more requests from new members about spacers and offset/wheel/tire combinations. Some of this info should be compiled and made into a sticky.
This was a sticky for a short while, but was removed from this status. I don't know why. If I were to amass a list of information and/or links to information, would this be worthwhile?

    • (Number of turns for wheel bolts):
      M12 x 1.50 = 6.5 turns = approx. 10 mm of load bearing shaft length
      M12 x 1.25 = 8.0 turns = approx. 10 mm of load bearing shaft length
      M12 x 1.75 = 6.5 turns = approx. 12 mm of load bearing shaft length
      M14 x 1.50 = 7.5 turns = approx. 12 mm of load bearing shaft length

I'm confused. What does this (Maximum tolerance for some vehicles is only 2mm (i.e. Rear Axle Mercedes)) mean?

I presume it's the penetration of the stud or lug bolt through the spindle flange and into the space behind it (rear wheels). If they are too long, they can/will wipe out the e-brake springs and cause a very large repair bill.

    Check out this sticky:

It's a bit long of a read, but lots of stuff explained!

Yeah, I read that a while back. Oh, I get it now, 2mm long bolts! I was thinking that it would only tolerate 2mm wide spacers. Lol! Thanks!
