Best tire set up?

My mom needs new tires for her crossfire. What are some good tires I should be looking at? Money isn't too much of an option. Tires must be good in regular conditions as well as good in the rain and snow...
Thanks
Mike

Everyone else is busy too lol.

The time it took to type your 2 messages you could have searched and found the answer! :p

Anyway, I would highly reccomend these: Best tire 6000, they are a 1000 better than the Best tire 5000. You can get them here: www.besttire6000sales.com

I chose Falken FK 452's for wet traction as well as dry.

I think the standard for snow/all season is Blizzacs.

I'm not too sure what is available in UHP ratings for snow performance.

But really, 'noob-don't get defensive. You should have READ what your extensive search came up with.

Goodyear Eagle F1 All Season (Ultra High Performance All-Season)

I don't have them but have heard good things. Not from the tires of course.... From the drivers, tires can't talk.

Ditto. We have them on the coupe and they are great. Besides, oledoc2u can use the kick-back. :p

I just ordered a set of Proxies (T1R), stock size for the fronts and 275/30/19 for the back. I should have them on in a few days so I'll let you know. I had Proxies on my Jeep Liberty Renegade 4x4 (my road warrior), I'm been hooked on them ever since.

I bet the tire dealer will hate you when they mount those back ones...

I guess we'll see. I bought them on the fact that it's been done before. Read it around here somewhere ;)

Now I'll have "go forth and Do Good"!:p

As I posted long ago- I do not suffer fools. Or the lazy. Or those who are "Too Busy".

Re: Best tire set up?

I went to mount some 275/30/19 Bridgestone S-03's today and they tire shop said that it could not be done. They did try about 4 times, but they said that rather than fear ripping the tire they did not want to chance it. They also said that 275/30/19's are too wide for the stock 9 inch Crossfire rear rims? I know that people on this forum are running that setup, I have 235/40/18 S-03's on the front and hopefully will get these 275's mounted on the rear.

Also they mentioned something about clearing the tire pressure sensor could be an issue... I saw it on the rim and it really is narrow and flat and I don't think would be an issue, but I don't know. I will be calling around tomorrow on finding a place that can mount these without ruining them.

Any tricks would be helpful... I live in North Phoenix, AZ and have heard of a place that specializes in low-profile mountings, but any old tire shop doesn't seem to have the right mounting machines to mount the 275/30/19's.

Re: Best tire set up?

go to another tire shop, those guys are idiots. did they scratch up your rims to hell when they tried to mount the tires? why did you not go with 275/35/19? the 30 series profile will ride rougher.

I just put Toyo Proxes on mine; stock size up front and 275/30/19 out back. Shawnkey (member) mounted them for me (nice work!). I used the manufacturer's specs when buying the tires and they were supposed to be about .33'' taller and about .6" wider. They're definitely wider but look shorter. Actually, the fronts look a tiny bit taller than the backs. Next time I'll go with either 275/35/19 or 295/30/19.

Shawn said that they were a challenge to install and will be even more so to remove.

BTW, these Toyos are worlds apart from the Continentals. Wow, you can really feel the handling now. Very confident too!

Re: Best tire set up?

I should have done more research on this forum. I went with the 275/30/19 rather than 35 series because I found a pair that was on special because they stopped making them and I desperately needed to replace the dried and worn stock Conti's. They did survive for 40,000 miles and are now at about 4/32nds which was actually impressive.

I know that the S-03's have a stiffer sidewall and are a summer tire (I live in AZ so that works), but with a wear rating of 220 I will be lucky to get 20,000 miles out of them. Either way it was a definite upgrade from stock but I still need to find another place to mount them. The Big-O tire shop that I took these to said that there is a special machine that makes mounting these low profile tires much easier, but they did not know of a place in Phoenix that had one.

I will be on the phone tomorrow trying to find it.

Also where is the speedometer cable connected? Rear of Front tires? I think that the 275/30/19’s will probably throw off the speedo by about 2 mph at 60 (it will read faster), but maybe that will save me in getting a photo radar ticket someday.

Re: Best tire set up?

didn't change mine...wish I had went bigger on the front now..stayed stock...originally going 285 but Goodyear didn't have it...took awhile to locate the 275's...funny thing is they were made in Germany...fronts were from China...so that doesn't make me real happy...but I like them...
