top ball joint bolt
top ball joint bolt
Ok, the dreaded top ball joint bolt sits mighty close to the tire. I have maybe like a finger width of a gap between that and the tire. When the suspension travels, will I hit this or does it move with the wheel (stupid question I know)? Others have this same wheel/tire size/offset combo with the same springs and shocks with no reports of hitting this. So far, I've had no rubbing issues in the front, but I don't want to blow a tire on a large bump due to this.

There's a pic on here somewhere (from the manual perhaps) showing that condition. If my memory serves me correctly I think that there are quite a few threads exposed, so you should be able to cut a few off.
Remember, as a tire is spinning it grows in diameter - albeit a small amount, but it still grows. Drive really fast for a short period (or long if so desired), then when you stop see if there is any sort of groove/mark in the tire.
I've looked for the pic I was refering to but I can't find - sorry guys.
