What is the best wheel DR combo for drag racing?
Are there any good choices in 16" rims that fit, or do we need to go with 17" rims? What is the best setup for say $800 or less? Thanks.
Needwings has 16" setups that seem to work pretty well. I have Voxx MG 17x8 wheels and Mickey Thompson ET Street DR's. They work good too.

Thanks for the information. I live about 20 miles from the track, and I like the idea of driving to the track.... drop the pressure.... make runs...... up the pressure...... and drive home. I guess something like the voxx 17s with street drag radials would be my best bet.
Here you go Bob, perfect fit, and you keep $200 of the $800 budget in your pocket. These babies worked well with my Code 3 you are running
. I can ship them to you this week, they are mounted, balanced and come with the shorter lug bolts needed. Perfect fit on the SRT6....what more can you ask for? I had a set of these tires on a daily driven Camaro SS a few years back...got 9000 miles on them and 1.5-1.6 sixty foot times at the track!!!
I bolted these on in my driveway and drove 50 miles each way to the track the two times I went with them...so no worries!

and had I not just bought moparrbust's, I would have bought these in a heart beat...better buy them, it is a grt deal and a perfect setup....
You can run 16''s, 17's or even 18's if you want. I have run two different 17'' setups on my car and am currently running a 16'' setup and all three have given me the same 1.7x 60' times(maybe I need to just change the driver instead lol). The main thing you need is a wheel that fits(M-B bolt pattern) and a tire that has a 26'' OD(or close to it).

I put mine on and drive 40 miles, let some air out, race, put some air in and then drive home.

Hey Scott, I looked at yours, and have been meaning to pm you about them. Maybe I am looking at the wrong wheels/tires on Discount Tire, but when I tried to find your setup, here is what I came up with: Wheels $119.04 each, and Tires 169.00 each. That would come to 576.08. Is your setup different than this? Thanks

Here is a quote from Discount Tire Direct not 5 minutes ago for the set up I have. They do not have the option for Lug Bolts online, but shorter lugs are needed and can be purchased at the store for more $$$.
Ok, we are looking at the same thing. Wheels are the same price as I stated, and tires are $10 cheaper online for me. Maybe has to do with my zip code.... who knows. Anyway, my price looks pretty good until you add in all the other stuff that is on your invoice. Tire Disposal Fee, Installation & Lifetime Spin Balancing, Certificates for Repair, Wheel Installation Kit, TAXES!!!
I know better than to think that my total price would be just the cost of the tires and wheels. I have had the crud all week.... body aches, sore throat, fever..... so I am going to blame my faux paux on that.
Besides, Scott.... I should know by now that if you put a price on something that it is a fair price. Nuff said.
Anyway, let me think about it, as it does sound good. I need to see where my finances lie. Hopefully, Tony is going to be coming to Atlanta in December sometime to do some tunes. I definitely can not pass up that opportunity.
Thanks again, and sorry for any confusion that I may have caused.
Bob
