Default Front Shock Issue

I had an earlier post about my l/f tire being cut on the inside due to it hitting the upper a arm. The front tires are 225/35/19's. It was discovered that the l/f shock had leaked allowing more movement from the wheel. The r/f tire is fine. Just in case anyone else has this problem.

Surely the stops contact before anything else reaches the limit, do you still have a stop? Or what's the point of having stops.
