Replacement Tire Sealant
Had a rea flat tire. Went to use the sealant and noticed that it had "expired" by date code. Used it anyway and it made a mess but didn't seal the hole in the tire. So I am reluctant to buy a factory sealant from my Chrysler dealer. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to buy instead???

A plug kit in the trunk is a better idea and then have the tire repaired from the inside with a proper plug at a dealer if the tire is salvageable.

In worst case scenario's, people have found their wheels etched, out of balance, plugged TPMS sensors, and still have a bad tire, after using that junk.
A good plug kit, and a AAA membership are the way to go.

I used the sealant the one time I put a one inch gash in the bottom of the tire after having run over some metal. It actually worked pretty well. Chrysler wanted $141 for a new can and I said they were crazy. Have had more nail holes than I care to remember but they don't lose air fast so I keep two compressors in the trunk and fill up the tire which is always good enough to get me to the repair shop. Sometimes I've driven the car two or three weeks before having the nail pulled and a patch put in. If a sidewall blows out (had that happen to me too) the sealant isn't going to help. Drove the car slowly about five or six miles on the flat. Didn't hurt the rim at all but then it was on the rear and there's less weight there.
