Final vote : 21 - 6 in favor of paint.
I will paint them RED, but not until it warms up enough to do it outside.
Thanks everyone !

There is an alternative to painting them, MGP caliper covers. I have them on a couple of my cars, you can get them in different colors, logos and brand name printed on them or custom wording. They look great only draw back, their a little expensive. Caliper Covers

I think a red would look great. I'm doing mine in the spring. Bill [ 36chevy]

Wow very nice but at $279 compared to $10 for my tin of paint they are a bit pricey.

^^^^ Ayup, I can buy a LOT of paint for that.
I can get the calipers powder coated for $80 - may just go that route.

Meant to say I didn't even take mine off, well I took the springs off. Just cleaned them and painted the fronts and side carefully without getting any paint on the pads or discs and wow I think they look great and only took about 30 minutes.

Yea, that's it.
I actually bought 2 thinking that would work better, in fact I used them a couple of times but found it easier to just do without them.
Waste of money IMHO, your choice.
( I can see where they would be handy on the front if you have SRT6 or other wheels you can't get through to reach the brake rotor, but on my NA I can just put one bolt in a hole, reach through and turn the rotor till it pops in. )

I had never heard of such tools and was curious, I could probably use one for the tires and wheels on my Pleasureway van, they get heavier every year.

The problem I found with this tool is that you can't actually see it when you lift the wheel to put it on.
It's even more difficult than just popping the wheel on, then struggling to line up the bolt holes.
The secret to the whole thing is to have someone in the car pressing the brake pedal.
On the rears, you can just pull the e-brake.

NOTE: Get yourself a 1/2" torque wrench ( @ $22 at Harbor Freight ) with a 17MM socket and a 4" extension. Torque the bolts to 82 ft/lbs using a star pattern.
Mine came in a neat plastic box that I keep in the trunk.

now that i think about it, I can see that it would be more a PITA than just the way that I have been doing it for a few years now
thank for the torque value!
i have the wrench, but was lazy to look for the torque value

Wheel Lug Guide tool. I just bought a 3" long 12 x 1.5 bolt & cut the head off. A much better price. I used a Dupli-Color Caliper Paint Kit.

I painted my calipers last year using VHT primer/paint/clearcoat. Seems to be holding up pretty well. I just painted them black to hide them a bit better since the OEM calipers aren't the greatest looking things in the first place. I don't like having calipers painted a flashy color unless they're upgraded calipers (i.e. Brembo, Wilwood, AMG, etc.)

I have been intrigued with the description of your car, what is different about it to make it rare? AMG ?
What am I missing here?

I believe he is referring to the 8 way passenger seat, a mod I'm currently preparing my SRT for. I know Dave you're gonna ask "Why bother when you don't drive your SRT let alone take a passenger." My response is "For the same reason a dog licks his ........., because he can."

Not really, the description says 'Rare 3.2 AMG Limited Edition with ....'
It is not a Limited as it is a 2004, it is not AMG as no Crossfires are and the seat mod is just that, a mod.
I was wondering if there is something here that is not evident to me.

[QUOTE=onehundred80;8669
My SRT6 is now debadged of Chrysler identity, and rebadged as AMG edition with AMG on the front quarter panels and front grill and rear trunk lid. I'm not trying to pull anyones' leg though, I register it as a Crossfire SRT6 at shows and readily admit what it is, I just like the way the AMG badges look, a bit different, and a little tribute to the engine.
