Default Max Tire Sizes on stock (SRT) Wheels?

Can some one please correct me If I am wrong here?:

Front 235/40-18
Rear 275/40-19

From what I have read here on the forum these seem to be the max sizes to fit on the stock wheels without rubbing or spacers. I need quick confirmation here as I found out yesterday I will need a set of tires before the dragon later this week. I want to be absolutely sure that if I pick a larger size they will not rub.

If it will help the tires I am currently considering (and can get in time if I order them today) are:

Conti Extreme Contact DWS (currently on the car in stock sizes)
Bridgestone Potenza S-04's

(I am aware that one is all season and the other is A summer tire)
Other tire recommendations are welcome too!

Thanks

A 40 on the back is tight I would stick with a 275/35.
275\40 is 1.7" taller then stock.
285 is the absolute max for stock rims.
I had 285/35r19 Goodyear f1 before I got my gmax's
The f1 are the worst tires I have ever owned

One of our CCC members had 305/30s on the back at one point I do believe. That's definitely a tight fit! I had 285/35s for a while with no issues (except for the cursing from the staff at the tire shop while trying to fit them on).

The rear is a strange situation. As the rear lifts and the arm drops, the rear tire also moves forward about an inch. Best to check for interference at full drop. I suspect a lowered car would have less of an issue.

Thanks for all the replies - I decided to play it safe (hopefully) and went with the 235's on the front and 275's on the rear. Don't seem to be any clearance issues, but I haven't pushed it very hard yet. Want to get a few hundred miles on the tires before that. Should be about right after my 264 mile commute to the dragon Thursday.

Good size.
What brand/style of tires are you getting?

Went with the Michelin Pilot AS-3's. They are on the car as of 5:00 this afternoon, and after only 25 miles, what a difference from the extreme contact DWS's that were on the car.

Nice. Let me know how they run after you run them on the dragon.
Are they run flat with stiff sidewalls?

No not run flats but the sidewalls see pretty stiff, I don't feel the tires rolling in a moderate corner like the old conti's did. I'll post my thoughts on these after I get back next week, should have a good feel for them after all those twisty mountain roads.

Speedy4X4 - They held great t the dragon, much better than the Conti DWS's that were on the car. Virtually eliminated the tire rollover I always felt with the old tires. I am very happy with them so far, now I just hope the treadwear is good long term.

Might have been a bad batch. Even when I was driving 3-4 hrs(as I do two e a week every week) I had problems, so tire temp should have been fine.

Anybody? How about making them even and puting 19s onthe front? Would that
change the dynamics much?

Sorry, I don't have any experience with that, maintaining stock wheels at this point. You may want to post your question as a new thread in this section, it will probably get noticed by more folks on the forum.

tednite: I have Lexani 19" rims front and back...front are 8.5" wide...rear are 9.5" wide... cannot notice any difference in the performance of the car...Carl
