Is $600 a rip off to pull the rear subframe?

My 2005 Crossfire base is making a clunk noise when I accelerate moderate to high especially in first and second gear and this auto shop says it would cost $600 to pull the rear subframe, he said quote "To mount on the rear cradle $116 each but it would cost $600 to pull the cradle down." My friend says it's a rip off, I'm not an expert on cars, so I was wondering if anyone knows or has any experience with that?

Did he indicate exactly what was making the clunking sound? You may have a sway bar bracket that has torn itself from the body. Pretty common I'm afraid and requires some welding to usually fix.

He said it was the rear bushings.

Make sure you have those rear subframe bushings in hand before doing anything. I believe they're hard to come by. It sounds high to me but I'm cheap and would likely attempt to do it myself.

Thanks, I took my Crossfire to another shop and they said it was the left engine mount, and it was $404, and there is no more thump noise, so all is good now.
