Default Thanks to the forum for making my 1st 4 wheel removal a success!

I've owned my srt for about 2 years now, and the BFG kdw ta's installed by the previous owner were starting to show some dry rot. It's a shame because i loved that tread design and they still had atleast 8/32 remaining. After some time on tirerack, i decided to replace them with the bridgestone s04 pole positions in the oe sizes.
Due to my reluctance to let anyone else work on my baby, I removed the wheels myself. Thanks to the forum i was able to find out everything i needed to know: how to remove the center caps without damaging them or the wheels, the location of the 4 jack pads, and the proper placement of the hydraulic jack. Even what to do when my front driver's wheel decicded it didnt want to let go of the hub. THANK YOU ALL!
I also took this opportunity to clean the 85 layers of brake dust off the inside of the wheels (ceramic pads are next on my list). Unfortunately, I didnt hear back from the tire shop until just before dark so she's still up om stands.

That was an excellent job of cleaning !
How did you do it ?

BTW : even though the first image is upside down, I found that if you open it, then right click and choose 'view image', it goes right side up !

A bit of trivia : if you examine the 3rd picture closely ( right click, view image ), you will see that 5 of the spokes have no indentions, these are directly opposite the valve core/TPMS position ( between the "Made in" and the "Poland" spokes ).
This extra tiny bit of weight is designed to offset the weight of the TPMS.

I agree, was it chemicals, or just plain scrubbing?

I used a combination of Mothers brand tire/wheel cleaner and elbow grease. A buddy of mine that details cars as a 2nd job suggested using a non-scratching scotchbrite pad for the scrubbing. It worked great! Just make sure you get the non-scratching kind from the house cleaning section. They are two sided with standard blue sponge material on one side and a darker blue scouring pad on the other.

Thanks for sharing. This gives me a little more courage to attempt this procedure on my 58 layered brake dust encrusted wheels as well. I want to index the holes some kind of way so I can put them back on the same way they came off. I was intending to use purple power and a pressure washer and I am worried about chemical etching which is one of the reasons I have delayed on this work for my srt.

When I initially got mine, I used 'Grease Lightening' 50/50 with water, sprayed them, let sit for 5 minutes, then stiff bristle brush and pressure wash.
Then same thing again, except soft bristle brush.
Since then, just car wash soap and soft bristle brush and water hose.
( also switched to Red Stuff ceramic pads )

Centric Ceramic Posi-Quiets used here, absolutely no discernible dusting of the rims. Super stopping with hardly any effort. Dust-free since install and it makes cleaning the car much easier!
