Default Master cylinder filling

Gentlemen - I had the ceramic brake pads and stainless steel brake lines just installed on my 05 Limited Coupe. The brakes are great, now, and a good firm pedal feel. I had this done at a local shop who services a lot of foriegn cars. My concern is, after draining all the fluid and bleeding the system, he filled the master cylinder way above the "max" fill line, all the way up to the neck and cap. Do I have a problem? I've never read anything about an overfill on the MC but I'm concerned since it's past the max fill line.

I would appreciate anyone's input. By the way, there seems to be a screen at the fill neck, I presume to catch any dirt when filling the MC. I was going to pull some fluid out but the screen seems to block my efforts.

Again, I solicit your input.

Jim

The screen pulls out, so suck some out.
He did use an approved fluid I hope. Not silicone.

180 - I got all the parts from Rob at Needswings, including the fluid. It's Dot 4 and what he (Rob) suggested. Thanks for the info on the screen. I'll attack that tomorrow and draw out some fluid. By the way, the brake pedal feel is much improved. Nice and firm!

Thanks again

Jim

OK, dumb question, what brake fluid should we use? I'm going to change out the original fluid, for new fluid. NAPA says that DOT 3/4 is acceptable, it is silicone. Can we go higher, DOT 5 or 6? Any input will be appreciated.

Higher is not better, DOT 5 is silicone based and is NOT to be used. DOT 5.1 is not silicone based.
The Service Manual says to use DOT 4, so that is what I use.Use a good quality DOT 4 and you can’t go too far wrong.
