Did I get ripped off, or was it a good deal?
Did I get ripped off, or was it a good deal?
I went into a non dealer repair shop because of a check engine light. The gasket was leaking on the rear of the catalytic converter. They installed a new $11 gasket with 2 hours of labor = about $200.
They noticed that the brakes were bad. The front pads were replaced by previous owner on rotors that were hacked up and the rear pads were almost down to bare metal. The brake job cost a total of about $750. They list the part costs as 114 for front pads 119 for rear pads 191 for front rotors and 111 for rear rotors. Plus 2 hours of labor. I looked up MOPAR part costs on the internet and the parts seem reasonable but I do not actually know if MOPAR parts were used but that was the part numbers listed on the invoice. Looks to me like I was treated fairly but I do not really know as the car is new to me.
Any thoughts?

Here is something to compare it to. But I don't think you got ripped off.

Just did the same thing as you. I called "Needswings" and talked with Rob. He fixed me up with some great ceramic pads, hoses, fluid, etc., etc. Cost was very good and when they were installed locally, they work like a charm. Look up Needswings.com and write or call. I don't work for them but I am a very satisfied customer.

Thanks for your comment. I have ordered keys from Rob @ "Needswings" and loved their low price. I should have ordered the brake parts from him. I did not think very well this time. I reacted to what the local repair guy said about unsafe brakes.
