Default Find a OBD2 scanner that can bleed the ABS module

I want to find a reasonably priced bidirectional scanner that can bleed the ABS module.
I have found one but it is a bit pricey. I want one that is about the cost of taking the car to the dealership.

The Bosch 1200 scanner I bought earlier this year can do quite a lot. But don't know if it will cycle the ABS module Will have to look.

Dave - Found this YouTube on AutoBleed of ABS using an Autel MaxiCheck Pro scanner.
Speaker says the scanner is less than $200 on Amazon.

It's $225 now and it clearly does bleed ABS.

That may just do it, the Autel one may not do our car, just because it does a GM truck does not mean it does the Crossfire.
Research is needed, ask the seller if it does, no use keeping it if it does not work.
This Foxwell looks like it may just do it, bi-directional is the requirement, and this says it has it, I guess the Mercedes SLK is the model to choose.
I believe Padgett has the Autel, he should know if it will bleed the ABS.

The Autel website has a knowledge base listing vehicles it functions on, 07-08 Crossfire were listed. I'm pretty sure it would work on earlier year also.

I have an Autel (Maxpro...I believe) and it doesn't support the Crossfire (SRT) regardless of what it says. However, you can use some features by selecting a SLK AMG and if you make the appropriate choices, it works. I haven't tried ABS bleeding but if you give me a couple of days I'll see if it works and what steps are necessary.

That would be most helpful, a happy new year to you and all the the folks in PR.

Neither does it say it does support Crossfire SRT, it does say Crossfire. There are marked differences between 2 models, as we know. If it can be told it's "working" on a SLK32 AMG and function correctly I'm pretty sure it will "work" on an SLK 320 when in fact it may be hooked up to a Crossfire Limited or base model. Some people dig buying stuff at FCP Euro which doesn't even acknowledge a Crossfire when it would be very easy for them to know that they share hundreds, if not thousands, of parts and systems.

Agree, after 2006 the SRS system changed. Before that you can tell the Autel it is a SLK320 or SLK32 and will handle many things.
Autel just replied that to cycle the ABS you need a MK808 and not the DiagLink.
Figures, the MK808 is $500 and for that might as well buy a STAR system

I cannot see that the MK808 mentions the ABS system or Mercedes.

The reply from Autel: " But the Diaglink can't support do the function you mentioned(ABS Bleeding ).We suggest you can consider a MK808.Do you have interested in the MK808,which can met your needs, the MK808 can support all system diagnosis and many special functions:Service Functions Including Oil Reset, EPB, BMS, SAS, DPF, TPMS Relearn, ABS Bleeding and IMMO. "

However the $500 price tag is too much when $200 units like the one mentioned in an earlier post will do the job.

When I purchased my Autel MD802, which was advertised as for a Crossfire, it was to diagnose/erase an airbag light. When the product didn't recognize my car, or have it listed under Chrysler, I emailed Autel. The told me it wouldn't work on my car and no updates would be available. ....)(*$&*^CROOKS!(&#$%#&*$^(Well, it does work by selecting the appropriate MB make and or year. So any communication/product information from Autel is suspect. Autel support is crap IMO so even if it works, I'd consider the other options first. I'll fiddle with it tomorrow or monday to see what the reality is. It just so happens that I need to bleed my ABS module.

I've been looking at the
FOXWELL NT630 Elite OBD2 Scanner ABS SRS FOXWELL NT630 Elite OBD2 Scanner ABS SRS
($139.99), posted earlier by Maggy55, and comparing it to the
FOXWELL NT510 Full System OBD2 Scanner for Mercedes-Benz/Sprinter/Smart Auto OBD II FOXWELL NT510 Full System OBD2 Scanner for Mercedes-Benz/Sprinter/Smart Auto OBD II
($179.99).

Trying to find more data to see what the NT510 provides beyond the NT630 for the extra $40.00
Logic would lead me to think that a specialized Mercedes Scanner for the extra $40 should do more, but logic is waning these days...
Also, I'd need by another software chip if I want to use it on my Hyundai Santa Fe; cost another $60?

Whatever way we go, it looks like we'll have to pretend to be a SLK320 (or SLK32) to access the majority of our Crossfire's data with a scanner.
The concern I have with this is the Auto VIN recognition and/or manual VIN entry. Obviously our VINs won't connect to the SLK programming.

Has anyone had any experience getting a scanner to connect the Crossfire without providing a SLK VIN?
The curse of the red-headed stepchild continues
Cheers,

I just finished using my Autel MD 802 to refresh my memory. Crossfire does NOT appear in the list under Chrysler. The auto detect does NOT work. It can NOT read the VIN. OBD2 functions work. It sees all the pids available for live data. (No oil temp or pressure. No trans temp.) More or less what the Dashdaq can read. It can read and erase codes including the airbag codes. I couldn't find a way to access the ABS.
It's possible they've added functions since purchasing mine. I tried to update it when new, ran into trouble, got nowhere with support, mostly use it for my 300C. Get something else for your Crossfire.

Can you manually force an SLK320 VIN to get it to work? I retrieved one from a 2003 car on the local MB lot just to have for ordering parts on-line. (Many official MB parts sites demand a VIN # before they will accept the order.) Just a thought...
