What's the treadlife on the runflat tires?

I'm seriously looking at picking up a Crossfire, but am still learning about the characteristics of the runflat tires. (I believe there are Conti's on the car I'm considering).

No one seems to know how long these tires will last. Do they have to be replaced every 15,000 miles? (Which means spending $1,000/year).

Thanks

the car does not come with run flats stock. the continentals are the all season option on the car. so if the car has the stock tires still on, they should last almost 30k, depending on your driving style. also as far as i know, goodyear and maybe michelin are the only two companies with run flat tires.

Re: What's the treadlife on the runflat tires?

The Michelins on my car have a treadwear rating of 220, which is pretty low. I expect to be changing the tires on my car around 15K or so. I'm sure I could push them into the mid 20K range, but why take the chance. Once the tire gets past 50% your going to need to change your driving style. I don't know about everyone else here but when I get the chance to take a nice turn, I don't want to think about "are my tires going to work for me this time?" FWIW, when I do need tires, I'll be going to BFG KDW2's that should run me about $1,100 a set or I could go to some Japanese tires I checked into that run about $900 a set, I guess I'll cross that bridge when I get to it. BTW, I seen a Crossfire at a local Auto-X this summer and he was running Michelin "cup" tires and they were P235/P265's and fit nicely in the wheel well, something else to consider...going up one size on the tires!

The Pilot Sport 2's on my car started life with 9/32" of tread. I have 22k on them now and the tires are at 6/32". I expect to get at least 30k out of my tires which I think is reasonable for a high performance tire.

The Conti OEMs are about the cheapest set of tires you can get for the XFire. They are on sale (or close-out) at the Tire Rack. You can buy a set of four tires for around $500 + applicable tax and shipping costs. Not a bad price.

Glad I asked. Salesman assured me they were runflats. They're the stock conti's.

Thanks.

We all know salesmen know exactly what they are talking about!!!

Run them flat if you want to, but you will surely mess up some wheels.
