Default intake manifolds

I keep hearing about these new manifolds with crossover pipes,I don't see them on needwings site

I assume someone found pictures of Waldig's experiment. You know he was working on dual throttle bodys too. Years have passed so I figure they weren't worth the expense.

I don't think expense was it, seems I read in one of his posts that he just couldn't ever get the AFR to cooperate.

Rob has improved on my crossover manifolds and they look great.

GET THIS; THEY REDUCE YOUR BOOST AND THAT IS A GOOD THING.

Because the valves have a bigger flow, the supercharger has less resistance and the static boost N U M B E R falls, the air flow and power go up but the static boost shows to be lower. This is hard to accept but the flow into the engine draws more intake charge, reducing the BACKUP which allows more air to fill the cylinders.

Its like having two hoses on a faucet, the second hose reduces the water pressure because the water is flowing more FREELY due to less restriction. I have not gotten dyno issues to show the numbers as a local mustang shop wont run my car any more, seems the numbers were dissapointly good for a 6 cylinder non ford car.

Remember how the dual intake I had developed reduced restriction and found 25 horse power below 2500 RPM. Same thinking, how do you get more air charge into you cars (HEAT) engine? !!!

Oh by the way lower boost pressures is less load (LOSS) to the engine and lower inlet charge temperature too.

Yes, this is a waldig design concept on these, very nice work Woody!. We are seeing great things with them on about a dozen cars now both v6 and v8's. We are seeing the boost pressure dropping by 5psi by feeding the cylinders from both directions and balancing the manifolds right to left, essentially more than doubling the plenum volume.

yes we can rework existing manifolds, we will need to recoat them once finished though so if you are thinking of a color change, that would be the time.

Rob, One of the images shows a relocated AIT sensor bung onto the manifold. I have considered and have wanted to do this, and even have a spare SC y-pipe to steal one out of. My question is, Will the temperature at that new location be the same, higher, or lower than the stock location(after bringing up to operating temp.). Has anyone tested the temperature at the 2 different locations with an infra red thermometer?

that was done so we could spray water/meth into each intake plenum inlet tube and have the sensor read the newly cooler air. yes without spraying the water/meth the sensor would read slightly warmer as it is further upstream away from the intercooler but it is very minimal difference. I wouldn't recommend the trouble of moving it if your not plan on spraying.

Thanks for the explanation. Yes, this is the very reason I wanted to do this(spraying/cooling). I have a bung at each intake plenum tube as you may remember. I want to spray in both those locations, as well as pre SC at a bung on the silicone y-pipe intake. Total of three spray nozzles. The plan is to re-locate the boost sensor to the lower y-pipe.
