Convertible top tool
Re: Convertible top tool
ebay has one currently listed for $75. I think I paid about $25 last summer for mine and the allen wrench/hex key part was too large. But it isn't a big problem to find a separate 6mm hex key/allen wrench to carry along. I've heard some folks modify a flat 10mm wrench that cyclists use. But I haven't tried that.
eeuroparts.com has one for under $25.
or pelicanparts.com for under $25
Just google "convertible top tool mercedes benz" and you'll find something that will likely work....

Re: Convertible top tool
I'm also looking for this tool as I don't have one for my crossfire. I contacted Pelican parts since someone recommended them but I asked a Mercedes guy there is it will work on the crossfire and he doesn't know. If someone can let me know that they know their folding to wrench part #129-581-00-66-MBZ will work I'd appreciate it so I can get this ordered and get my top back up.

I believe this one for 25$ will work , https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-W2...5442775?_ul=BO or https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-.../208899008064/
Re: Convertible top tool
Thank you Maggie! I ordered the one from ecstuning. I had contacted a few people on Ebay but they told me what they had wouldn't work on the Crossfire and then also Pelican Parts and he couldn't guarantee me what they had would work. At least the ones you referenced have basically the same part number.
Re: Convertible top tool
Yep, I got mine from ecstuning too - works fine and good price with free shipping :

Re: Convertible top tool
I only ordered the one tool so I had to pay shipping but that's okay. I had put the top down to show a six year old that loves cars and then when I went to put it back up it only opened the top but the actually convertible top didn't come out. Had I known better I would have pulled it out myself then and tried the open and shut three times to see if that resolved the problem as I saw mentioned here. Am also planning on checking the fluid for the top to see if it's low once I can get into the trunk again. If anyone has any other suggestions I'd love to hear them!
