Default Mercedes people

I was looking at a Mercedes Benz forum for performance modifications on the SLK 320 and I ran across a few threads on the Crossfire. There is one word that sums up a significant percentage of Mercedes/SLK owners: Jealous. There were a lot of people showing their resentment of the fact that our Crossfires are much less expensive versions of the SLK. A few even thought that the Crossfire would never perform better than the SLK. There were some that understand that change is good and liked the car, but the elitist attitude was pervasive (kinda reminds me of BMW people). So, just for fun, go find a Mercedes forum and do a search for "crossfire". I promise you'll get a big kick out of it
And try not to flame them, we don't need a flame war over this.

No reason to be down... you own a XF!!! But then maybe you have a point, it takes a SSB to really do the trick, not Alabaster. :P :P :P

It like I have been saying in the UK. The auto reporters dont like this car. Why? they don't like the idea of merc and (america) chrysler making a car. takes the snob value out of it.

A friend of mind loves my car but will not buy one because it dosen't have a merc or bmw badge.

Keeping up with the jones can be expensive

I think the NEW SLK is a step up though. Much better than the one ours is based on. Thats how Merc will keep it. In afew years time we will have a new XFire based on their existing floopan, then they will have a new one. Merc wont allow the same to be used across both platforms as it makes a direct competitor.

We will probably just get the new slk 350 3.5L/268-hp V-6,DOHC, 4 valves/cyl power plant the next time the step up again...

That SLK 350 is sweet! It does not look like a total chick car anymore.

I would be willing to bet there will not be another XF,remember this is probably a market thing to use Benz parts and get Chrysler buyers, turned into Benz buyers! They may come out with the 4seater,style.

I'd be willing to say you may be wrong. Chrysler is trying to upgrade their image and products. From what I read we can expect more and more of a merger when it comes to sharing parts etc. There will always be a market for the poor man's MB IMO, could be wrong tho.

It's in name only but i don't see the Crossfire continuing like the Corvette. It's more of a show to merge the 2 companies, and they will keep bringing new models out not reusing the name. That would take away from their intended marketing .

Uurgh. The new SLK looks like Peugeot have styled the front lights. Should have taken the light shape from the SL. Rest of the car is well cool. Look at all the buttons on the console.....and the steering wheel is on the wrong side.
