Default **HELP** How do I install this? (PICTURES INCLUDED)

Hey!

I've experienced some rain water leakage in my car via a worn out weather-strip retainer.
I now have the retainer, but lack the knowledge on how to install it.
This is a very pertinent issue that needs to get fixed soon, so any help and info on this
is much need and VERY much appreciated.

Thank you

I just went and looked at my car and felt under the larger seal that hits the inside of the door and I can feel screws under there that go into the holes you can see in your pics.. I mentioned before I thought it was glued but now I think there is no glue just a tight fit against the metal. Somehow that larger seal has to come of also the rear glass as well. How much has to be stripped down to get to that point is hard to say.
Just go gently at it and keep us informed. Sorry I am not much help though.

I guess I'll just have to see what happens!

And possibly make a guide of it for future members who need this done.

I don't see how the rear glass would need to come off.

The strip goes from the ext a pillar trim panel to the corner of the window.

You may consider adding this after market trim piece around your windows after you get the OEM trim installed. IBLUBYU showed this to me a few years ago. I installed it on my car about three years ago. It will prevent rain from dripping down into the car when you have the window cracked open. Especially useful on those early mornings when there is a light mist in the air. It comes in a coil so I laid it out straight for a few warm days to get the tension out of it before I installed. It also has a self adhesive on the back side. As you can see I made a tight turn at the top forward corner of the window. IBLUBYU cut his there and then linked the two pieces with heat I think, but could have been silicon, I'm not sure on that.
It was available on line at Brandsport and named Trim Gard Black Drip Rail Molding 5/8" in height.
There are more pictures of it in my gallery.

What was the installation like? Any light you can shed on this for me is greatly appreciated.

Also. If you can give me a link to that product, that would also be appreciated.

Thanks very much. It looks like it just adheres to the retainer. I very much plan on getting that.

You are correct. The 5/8" molding simple adheres to the retainer. It was easy to install, but wait for a warm dry day. I cleaned the retainer with alcohol, started at the lower front and worked my way back. I cut both ends about a 60 degree angle which will help to keep your cleaning pads and rags from getting snagged at the ends. The only thing you must watch and be careful is guiding it on to the retainer. If you let it get too low it will interfere with the window when you open the door. I simply used my finger as a guide, but be aware of that potential problem. It is also a lot easier to work with if you uncoil it when it first arrives and lay it out in a warm place to allow the tension to relieve itself from being coiled tightly during shipment.

Mind posting a few close-ups so I can see how you did yours?

I installed it today and it was -- for the most part -- a simple job.
Pulling back the int. weather-striping was a little tedious and also lining up the retainer was a pain.

The only real hard part FOR ME was that my part had a bent wire, so I had to try my best (in 30 degree weather) to re position the wire to make it flush. I'll just have to...uh...work on it...

Overall it looks nice and hopefully fixes my leak issue. I'll test it out in 2 days when the sealant cures.
