Default Cold day at the track

I just got back from the track. It was 45 degrees with intermittent drizzle. The sun never came out, so the track condition was not very good. This was my first time at the track since the Tony tune, and I had MT ETs. So, how did I do?

I made 6 runs with a best of 12.222 @ 114.07 and a worst of 12.351 @ 113.78

My best:

1.804 60'
7.901 1/8 @ 89.17
12.222 1/4 @ 114.07

I will try to scan them and post the slips later.

Considering my last best was 12.73 @ 107.65 before the tune, I am pretty pleased. Hopefully, I can do better when the weather is better.

Ohhh.... and I ran against an 85K Nissan RS X. Yep, he beat me, but by less than 2 tenths. He wasn't so happy. LOL

So, tell me your impressions on the SLK wheels and 255's. I didn't consider those rims because of the 7" width. Did you have enough grip?

Well, I did not get on it as hard as I think I will be able to. With the weather today, they could not get the track prep to dry. They warned everyone to be extra cautious due to the track conditions. Now, to answer your question. I was running 18lbs of pressure, and the hardest I launched was 1800 rpm and was not real aggressive on the throttle. I had no wheel spin, so I am pleased so far.

Hopefully next time the weather will cooperate, and I will see what I can get out of them. I am thinking that I should be able to stomp on it at 2000 rpm.

Oh, and they are CLK Wheels. Dyslexic fingers.

Steve called me and was in a tizzy about your times being so awesome bro... congrats.

And all that in drizzly conditions... impressive.

Tony is definitely the guy getting hold of my Crossfire when the time for a tune comes...

Thanks John. I can't wait to get back out on a decent day, and see if I can get my 60s down around 1.7. Today was just not the day to see how hard I could launch.

Oh, and I don't know if Steve told you, but I got a check engine light while I was running. I stopped on the way home at an AutoZone and had it checked. It was a P0335. Crankshaft Position Sensor. The light went out when I was leaving the track. I did not notice anything with the car, so who knows. I probably need to look into ordering a CPS and put it on just to be on the safe side.

Sure, come on up. Looks like our cars would be a pretty good match. I am running 255 50 16s.

I just remembered something that I thought was interesting from today. I had several people come up to me today and ask me about what kind of turbo(s) I had on my car. Right before I left, another guy pulled up next to me in a 5.0 GT as I was walking to my car. He asked... "How many turbos do you have in that thing". As I did in every instance before, I told him that I did not have a turbo.... It is just a stock SC. By this point I am curious why everyone thinks I have a turbo, so I ask him what made him think I was running a turbo. He said that it sounded like a serious *** turbo going down the track. Then it dawned on me that I just installed the Ansa.

I don't know what others that are running an Ansa sounds like at WOT, but as I posted the day I installed mine..... At WOT, it sounds like a high pitched whine or screem. Not really sure how to describe it as I have not heard it from the outside, but evidently it sounds like a heavily turbo'd car LOL. I will try to take the camcorder with me next time, and see if I can get someone to record me.

bmorgan, I had my Aero give me the P0335 at the track the first time I got it too. I just didnt see the indicator behind the stalk until after I had made two runs and I decided to leave when I saw it. Car was running fine and the CEL went out when I fired it up to leave. Good runs and get that sensor swapped out...

I run 16x7 CLK rims with 255/50 16's and last night out at the track cut 1.73 60' while only launching at 1800rpms. I thought the track wasn't prepped so I didn't launch at my normal 2200-2300rpms.
