See my thread re the Bridgestone RE960's. I put 275-30/19's on the stock rear SRT wheels. That was fine though a pain for the guys to mount. 285-30/19's would also work if you find it in a tire you like but that's the limit for a 9" rim.

put a new set of Nitto Invos on. Used the stock size on the front and 285/30/19 on the rear. Looks awesome and handles extremely well. Originally I had 36 lb in the tires and could feel some sidewall flex. Went to 40 lbs all the way around and the tires stick like glue with no sidewall flex!

The side benefit to the Invo is that unlike the Michellin PS2s there is a slight rubber "lip" that protects the edge of my SRT6 rims.

I just threw on a pair of Continental ContiSport Contact 2 295/30 19's on my stock SRT wheels. They were a pain in the A$$ to put on(and are technically too wide) but I like them.

285 is the widest you should gobecause any wider will cause the inner part of the tire to have most traction with the ground cousing most the rubber to be on the inside, also the lower the sidewall foe example "30" is bad because it is so close to the rim, that any bumbyou go over can harm the rim...i went with 275/35 19 on the rear with stock rims and that is the widest you should go for comfort...just cuz the tires are wider doesnt necessarily mean better performance

Some tire brands in a 285 are wider than others. I'm posting a coupe pic's, I had GY F1 285/35/19 supercar run flats on my 04 coupe, it's the widest tire in the picture. I bought a pair of PS2's 285/35 19's for my SRT6 and they were not as wide as the GY's, first pic from left to right is GY 285 - 2nd is OEM 255 and on the car is the PS2 285. Second pic is of the GY 285 next to the PS2 285. The GY is about a 1/2 wider than the PS2

That's a good point Steve, there is no standardazation in the tire industry, and personally it drives me nuts when ever you want to replace your tires with a different brand name than what came on your car.
Wide "meats" look impressive, but changing the stock width can, and often does change the hight too. Even going up a 1/2" in tire hight will probably slow your acceleration down.

Yeah, I was pretty aggravated when I ordered the PS2 285/35/19's for my SRT6 expecting to have the same width of the GY 285's. They were the same height though, about an inch taller. Here is a pic of some tire's closest is the OEM 255, center is a 275/40/17 and the last one is the 285/35/19 that I'm running on the back.

Moparrbust, can you post some photos. I'd like to see what they look like on your SRT.

For what it's worth, these are Bridgestone's recommendations re minimum wheel width. The enclosure also has provides a cheat sheet on diameters as well as the tread widths on their RE960 Pole Positions. As has been pointed out tread width differs somewhat among tires. But its probably a safe bet that most of the better summer tires would require at least the same min. rim width -- maybe even half an inch wider.

Anyone have rear-end pictures with 285 or 295 wide tires?

There isn't any difference because the sidewall height is the same on a 255/35 as compared to the 295/30's...........if that makes sense. The "30" and "35" numbers are the aspect ratio and just represent the tire height to width(or vise versa) ratio. The OD is near identical. Eventually I will take them off and have the stock rims widened to 10 or 10 1/2'' so that I can have a better contact patch with these tires and/or move up to some 305's.
