So finally got around to completing job, before putting canister pipe back on filter went under bonnet disconnected line from canister to valve and connected a vacuum pump and pumped,! got around a pint of fuel out then nothing, reconnected all canister lines and started car, no leaks no splutters back in action
Thanks for the info: you will be sucking a lot of vapor for awhile through the underhood solenoid as the ECU opens the EVAP system to purge vapors. That may effect the car throttle response until the canister settles back to normal.
