Thinking further, those probably aren't seals but rubber gussets that should be inside that steel bracket, to support the steel pipe / stop it rattling?

If so, the oil is coming very slowly from somewhere else - but the joins and caps at each end of that length of pipe are dry. Hmmm.

For full disclosure, I overfilled my last oil change, but lowered it to correct level about 1-2 weeks later.

Let me know what you think is happening, please.
