We had our first cold snap down here in Florida a bit back and last week I noticed blue fluid on the floor under the Crossfire. Identified it as wiper fluid, got on the fourm to research and found that it most likely was a cracked tank. Opened up the wheel well to inspect and the tank looked good, however I noticed that there is a rubber plug in the lower side of the tank, maybe an unnecessary drain plug? In a previous post regarding the tank removal you can see it in the pictures. The plug was the source of my leak, it was a bit loose and has seemed to have contracted and not sealing all the way. My solution was to wrap the plug with a good rubber electrical tape that stretches, not the regular cheap stuff. I inspected the rubber grommet under the tank and it looked good but added some peel and stick rubber backing that I had to give it some added protection. So far the tank is not leaking. Sourcing a replacement plug might be a challenge but it’s similar to what you see in boat live bait wells or inner hulls, if the leak comes back that’s what I will try.
Part number for the plug from Mercedes is 2109870045
