Hello Zip.
The "lock to lock" solution did not work. I'm going to pull it out and send it off to MyAirbags.
This past fall, I pulled the engine and tranny because I had two cylinders down on compression and it was time to check the timing chains. I found cracked rings in four cylinders, so I honed both banks to .010" with new rings. I also decked the block, decked the valve covers (no more leaks), changed the timing chains and gears, installed a new rear main, and changed the flywheel, pressure plate, pilot and throw out bearings. I also changed out the entire A/C system to include the evaporator and heater core. While in there, I found vacuum tube coming off the manifold was rotted and that was causing my blend door problem. But when it comes to diagnosing squibs and chasing down signal channels, BLAH! No fun, send it off. My Airbags said if it's good, no charge so no loss there.
I'm a "shade tree mechanic" but I have been building hot rods and engines since the age of 12, so sending it off is hard for me (no one works on my stuff). I'm not sure if you can still see them but in my photo albums, I have pictures of some of the cars I've built to include my '32 Lakester which I built by hand. I designed and made everything from the frame to shaping all the body panels. She's pushed by a '49 Mercury 8CM Flathead V8 topped with (3) original Stromberg carbs. I have her, 519hp Keith Craft powered '65 AC Cobra kit car, '34 Ford Sedan hiding a .401 Buick Nailhead out of a '65 Wildcat, but I recently sold my '64 Covette.
BUT...Out of all the cars I've built, driven, and raced, these little Crossfires are
the most fun. I love them and searching for parts makes it all the more fun to me. I bought our first one in 2008 because my wife wanted something small to navigate the narrow streets of Key West where she worked. I've owned one ever since.
Two years ago, A friend and I missed the Texas Mile 200mph club by 13 in a 2004 GTO w/ a .323 LSXR bored and stroked to .376 CID huffing through two Garrett 3582XR 68mm turbos.
I'm considering ripping everything out of another '04 Limited and retrofitting it with a '54 .264CID Nailhead I have, turbocharge it, and go for that 200mph again.
I'll let you all know how this SRS problem ends and any bits of information I find out. If you ever have a question, reach out. I don't know everything, but I do see a lot of wrong or bad info traded on this forum.
