I will add that the car is kept on our drive all year round with three tarpaulins over it, I have since pulled everything out of the boot and that is bone dry, so I am pretty sure it is not water ingress that has caused the problem, I have also checked the fuse boxes and all fuses are OK, but while playing around with various switches I thought I would lower the roof, I released the catch and the side windows went down, but then it stopped its cycle, after playing around with the switches nothing happened, so I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and then re-connected it, but nothing happened, no change, so I then locked the roof, then pressed the window lift switches and the windows went up, I have since driven the car, it goes fine, but the fault is still there, can you help me I would appreciate you feed back?

How old is your battery?
Sometimes when the battery starts to go bad weird things start to happen with the electronics. There should be a date code on your battery. If it's more than 3 years old you might want to change it or at least have it tested.
