Re: Blue Ridge
Well, it started out as a great drive, decided that instead of the blue ridge, I'd head to Wild and Wonderful West Virginia (close enough) and see the new Shenandoah course at Summit Point Raceway. It's been a while since I was there, so I really needed to check out the new addition. Fantastic sunny afternoon, trees not quite a peak here, but the roads were packed so I wasn't the only with this bright idea. I was, however, the only XF around the entire trip. Took the fast route to Charlestown (270 - 40 - 340 - Summit Point Pike). Got to Summit point in about an hour and a half, and hooked up with the Porsche Club race day. The Shenandoah course was super. They did an excellent job and it couldn't be more different than the original course, which is more like a Monza style course - simple lines long straight.
To my surprise, the Shenandoah course even has a banked corner a la Nurburgring Nordschleifer. After I got my fill of burnt tires and exhaust, I headed up toward Shepardstown and back across into Maryland Antietam. Then the rains started..and all us Leaf Watchers limped home in traffic reminiscent of an early friday afternoon around DC.
Just before Shepardstown, I passed this wonderful (and scary) home that was falling a part, but it actually seemed like someone was still living there, I've added a pic of it below. Perfect for this pre Halloween week.
