Default Re: '04 Coupe Automatic for $1.00

Well I've been busy!

Got the new windshield trim installed and it looks fantastic. New front brake pads (next up are the rears). Still waiting on new tires, who can afford those these days. I decided to take the gorgeous Saturday and bring her through a real car wash and that's when everything went sideways.

You guessed it, water pooling in the passenger floor. Cleaned the best i could and put a fan in there, while I researched how to tear apart the interior.

The next day the seats came out, which was fine because I needed to replace the seat belts anyways. Took the blower out and cabin air filter, which was like moving furniture around on Degobah (iykyk). Completely disgusting. The smell... you have no idea.

After a lot of vacuuming and steam cleaning I felt like I got the bulk of it and put the seats back in. I then moved to the windshield cowl and removing those wiper blade arms were a colossal pain the ***. Much to my surprise, but only from naivety, there were more piles of mouse swamp in the gutters. Gently cleaned that out by hand, as I didn't reinstall the blower yet. Used my good tea pot to gently pour water down the sides to ensure quick flow. Used a straw cleaner to scrub the tubes the best I could and gave everything another rinse.

Lost the washer fluid hose in the side panel, but after some creative use of an old wire hanger, we were back in business.

It's weird putting all the old stuff back on and not just replacing it with shiny new parts, but I guess that's what restoring means. Gave what I could a quick soapy bath before reinstalling at the very least.

Tomorrow will be installation of the blower and new air filter. My goal is to get her driving again for the long weekend, but gently until new tires....
