There was a similar question posed some months ago. The consensus at that time was a cell phone was rubbing the side bolster.
I have noticed just that with my work buddy going to lunch with me. He has one of those big Winders/stylus/whatever phones. The phone and especially the antenna tend to mark the seat. I deal with that since he's not in the car often. I try to be very careful with my phone keeping it up front while I drive.
Also my pocketknife is worrisome. It has a pocket clip. I have had to start carrying it in my left pocket. In my right - it scuffs the steering wheel if I happen to get too close exiting. I have yet to find a solution to the scuffed leather. Lexol has helped. At least it's on the bottom of the wheel.
