You need to connect the speed sense wire (is located at the factory radio amp) in order for the system to know that you are moving. Reverse wire is not 100 percent needed but is recommended, this way it knows which direction the car is going. Once that is done you need to calibrate the unit to the car, this can be done by getting into he calibration mode and driving approx 1/4 mile and then making a 90 degree turn and repeating the steps until the system calibrates. Manual calibration is not 100% but you will need to know things like tire diameter and such.
Another thing to remember that many people are not aware of with many points about nav systems. Road names are not always what you know them as. The mapping is based off a database supplied by the town/city. For example a road near my home is known at rt 38 (just ask anyone here ant they will all tell you that is what it is) but the road is actually made up of three different roads before it became rt 38. The nav system shows this and so do the township maps as there are addresses still based off those roads.
Thank you for the advice. Do you know how to enter the calibration menu? I reset my headunit but I can't get it to go into calibration mode.
