Default vin etching...

glennnn, didn't realize there were still some out there who still did this. back in (if i recall correctly) the mid and late 80s, this got started. and even into the early 90s, the pennsylvania state police, for example, would pick a weekend or two and offer this for free to any driver that showed up.

all geared in attempting to discourage crime. until your posting, i hadn't thought about the subject at all in a very long time, wonder if it really does deter theft? come to think of it, its seems to have been some years since i recall PA state police offering this...any stats to share? perhaps this idea fizzled out at some point.

though I have to say, other than having it done proactively by you're home state troopers...$60 is minor for added security, but... though i can't speak for my fellow forum members, i suspect most of our babies are garage kept...or we're not in areas of high crime, or even just parked on any given street (though i could be wrong).

i guess i just believe that if someone is 'bound and determined to get it, they're gonna!' just my thoughts, bonster
