As for cars blending in...HEADLIGHTS ALWAYS ON...rain or shine...if they miss you then you know they weren't looking.
What really sucks though is if the sand wasn't there it would have never happened. I tried to get the insurance company to cover it under comp. instead of collision because of the sand, but they wouldn't do it. There goes my good driver discount, I have not had a claim or a speeding ticket for 10 or 15 years.
