Maybe a powder coat to give it such a smooth finish but it is not plastic. I'll keep you updated and send pictures when they return them. I just thought more folks would be interested since it's about $350 less then the replacement ones.
I know Frank, It's better than just a good deal. It's a bargain. Once you confirm that they can be chromed, I bet there will be a great deal of interest.
