Is it the grey of the dash bottom and the center console sides or the silver grey down the center of the dash and console that is showing the problem?

The slk interior shows wear on the "flat" painted areas such as the dash bottom. I assume the "shiny" silver grey area is protected by a plastic film or polyurthane as is done with wood veneer.
