Yes, the light will illuminate while you're using your "track wheels without the sensor", but will go back to normal when you put the other ones back on...
Yes, chip tuning does produce higher hp #'s over the OEM. And if you're thinking that you will pay $50 for an ECU modification, you're sorely mistaken. Think more in the range of $600.

verifiable dyno numbers for ECU mod. on the Crossfire is from Speed Innovations, posted here on this site. But, you're only going to get somewhere in the range of 18-22 hp gain, depending on your engine...
