Default Re: I am scared but dealer here I come...

Sidez, i had my fan assembly replaced at Grand Dodge of Englewood and have been going there for years ('97 avenger, '98 neon r/t, '03 SRT-4)... its a simple procedure that takes less than half an hour... they know i inspect all work performed afterwards closely and have no issues with that; and i have no issues with their techs cause they do their work proper and clean. although i did have to pull my own car in cause their guy did not know how to get it in reverse hahaha ... hey that's okay, this is a american car brand and this is very much not a american shift pattern ...

I must warn you though, it should have been replaced earlier ... the high temps you saw could be enough to warp the delicate aluminum heads and cause head gasket leaks ... if not already then down the line in the future ... anytime you see the temps go up like that it is best to either gradually speed up to see if rushing more air through radiator will cool it enough (such as on a highway) or come to a dead stop and turn off the engine right away (such as on a slow local road). let me tell you, after owning a '98 neon r/t i know how much of a pain headgaskets can be ... they had horrible single layer headgaskets pre mid '98 that leaked like clockwork so i had the pleasure of changing several for friends neons and my own to the newer multi layer design head gasket and 3 out of the 5 of them had to have the head milled flat to make it hold a seal again due to being overheated once after the gasket blew.
