Wink Spontaneous Road Racing...

I live in SoCal where the import aftermarket crowd is alive and well, and it amazes me how often (since I got my Crossfire) I'll pull up to a stoplight and have some guy in a "rice rocket" (my term for any japanese import car with aftermarket ground effects and one of those "coffee can" exhaust tips) try to race me. I'm not what you'd call overly aggressive, but I do have a lead foot, so I'll oblige them, but I'll only race to the speed limit. After that, if you want to risk a reckless driving ticket, that's all on you. So pretty much the same thing happens every time. I'll beat them to 60 or whatever, then shift into 6th and go back to cruising, and invariably they'll come screaming past me in 3rd gear on their way to some ridiculous speed that would get them thrown in jail if they got pulled over.

One of these days that'll happen and I'll catch up to him again half a mile down the road when a cop stops him for doing 40 miles over the limit, honk my horn, and give him a thumbs up as if to say "way to go, dumb a$$, hope you like having your license revoked". I mean, I know some of the people on this forum have had their cars well into the triple digits (as have I, but only for about a mile or two of I-10), but these guys obviously do this sort of stuff all the time, and if he can't beat a 215-hp V6, I fell sorry for him when he tries to race a car with some real muscle.
