It doesn't affect the stop lamp function. On rear fog lamp cars, one reverse lamp becomes the rear fog lamp (so you will only have one reverse lamp). Its on Euro, UK, and Aussie XFs. Placement of the fog lamp (left side or right side) depends on the country the car is sold. The rear fog lamp goes on whichever side is closer to the highway's center median, from what i've learned.
