My guess it was with a driver that had the traction conrol on and just matted the pedal. Didn't bring the rpm up before launching the car.
From the feel of it, when you're holding the brake and bring up the R's that at right around 2,200 rpm the torque converter starts to link up. You get a much harder and quicker launch than just slamming the pedal to the floor after you release the brakes.
