Re: Cold air intake... Thoughts?
I never thought of our system as a cold air intake. I call it a ram air system like the ones found on the Pontiac Ram Air Trans Ams. Our filters are located right over the engine and soak up all the heat. I'm also pretty sure those filters hold in a lot of that heat as well. If you notice on a cold air intake the actual filter is located outside of the engine bay or has a heat shield isolating it. The filter stays cool and the air simply blows on through into the engine.
Any OEM air filter system is going to be restrictive simply because there is internal baffling to keep the engine noise down, good for normal commuters, bad for performance.
