Oh silly me, gave this two more seconds of thought and realize it is the sensor switch in the roof. The windows only go down when you push up the roof into the retract position. The switch is most likely defective.

that's definitely what i think it is I was hoping i was wrong though and it was an easy fix not something i had to take it in for, although i'm sure its covered by warranty its just obnoxious.
